World Energy Crisis and How You are Affected

The idea of a world energy crisis may seem like something that does not have to affect you and the other people living safely in the urban landscape. In reality, however, there are several ways by which this phenomenon can affect individual citizens like you.

Rising cost of commodities

One of the most important ways that the world energy crisis is affecting regular people like you and your family and friends is through the rising cost of basic commodities such as electricity. Your grandparents keep telling you that the prices of things are no longer as cheap as in the past. All of these great and radical changes are not the result of inflation alone, however. When it comes to electricity, the underlying reasons are the quickly depleting source.

Diminishing oil reserves

Electricity in most cities is created by generators that are fueled by oil and other petrochemicals. These oils are burned in order to create heat which creates motion and powers the generators making your electricity. At present, however, there are only several major oil reserves left, and the little oil that is available is becoming more and more expensive. This is one of the reasons why electricity bills are rising.

Rising gas prices

If you own a car, the effects of the world energy crisis are easier to feel. Crude oil prices are rising all over the world. Even in the Middle East where much of the world’s oil is derived, the oil levels are slowly diminishing. This is why the price you pay each time you visit the gas station is changing dramatically.

The good news, however, is that there are various ways to avert the crisis. Nonrenewable energy sources are available and have actually been with us for a very long time. Solar powered homes are increasing all over the country. Wind turbines are being built in order to power entire communities. Even hybrid cars are being created in order to allow people to drive without being dependent on gas. You can protect yourself from the crisis by looking for alternative power sources for your own home.

hybrid cars are energy efficient compared to diesel or gas powered cars.:`.
